Marine Survey Overview

The professional, qualified and experienced Marine Surveyor exists by his ability to examine the condition of yachts and other vessels in a factual unbiased manner

Care should be taken when choosing a Marine Surveyor, the industry is unregulated meaning any individual can set themselves up and call themselves a Marine Surveyor

There are two internationally recognised British based organisations, amongst others, that represent surveyors. The International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) and The Yacht Designers and Surveyors Association (YDSA). All surveyors are vetted before they can join either of these organisations and to keep their membership both organisations have systems which ensure continuous professional development. Any legitimate practicing surveyor would be expected to be a member of some form of Surveying organisation. Before you choose any surveyor please check their credentials.

BMS has experienced surveyors who have carried out surveys throughout the World including the Eastern Mediterranean, The Middle East, France and the UK. We are members of both of the organisations listed above and all also have specific marine surveying qualifications. In addition to this we have surveyors recognised to carry out government regulated surveys for registration and for British registered Commercial Yachts.

All our Surveys are carried out in accordance with the codes of practice drawn up by the internationally recognised organisations listed above. If BMS carries out a survey for you we will spend the time to answer any questions about the survey and are happy to give any yachting advice. We will not pass on any information about the survey without first receiving your permission.

Marine Surveying covers a very broad field. At BMSUK we have the advantage of being highly experienced, we are able to pool our knowledge to provide the best possible service, see our team profiles and testimonials.

If you require a Marine Survey select the type of survey from the menu on the left hand side for more information or contact us directly with your requirements.

BMS is committed in offering the best possible service.
